Section 1.2 Course Description and Goal

MATH 123 Introduction to Functions (Gen. Ed. satisfying Core Math or Domain II-A requirements)
An exploration of numerical, graphical, and symbolic approaches to function concepts with emphasis on real-world applications, modeling, and problem-solving skills. Topics include polynomial and rational functions, equations and inequalities, systems of linear equations, and the connection between functions and their graphs.
Prerequisite: Satisfactory mathematics placement.
Course Goal: To introduce the student to the fundamental concepts of algebra, strengthen their understanding, build their confidence as mathematical thinkers, and develop an appreciation of the subject and its application to other fields of study and real-world scenarios.
